The use of gadgets by toddlers is increasing by the day, in fact a new report indicates that back in 2011, the percentage of kids who were using a mobile phone was at 38%.That number has increased to 72% in 2013. In our first article on “Effects of Modern Gadgets On Development Of Children” we touched on two effects and in this article we will be focusing on another three effects of modern gadgets to children.
A report by the World Health Organization back in 2011 indicates that wireless devices such as mobile phones are considered to be category 2B risk, this is due to the fact that there is usually radiation emission. In 2013, University of Toronto’s Dr Anthony Miller, who works in the University’s Healthy Child Healthy World acknowledged the fact that, kids if exposed to radiation there are bound to be affected negatively.
This is another effect of gadgets that many parents are well aware off but they tend to ignore it. If your kid spends too much of his/her time playing games chances are high that he will be very violent. The most common form of aggressiveness when it comes to kids is usually tantrums. In addition to that, kids who grow up playing video games are bound to confront their elderly at some point as well as disobey them. It is advised that as a parent, make sure you are in-charge of the house and minimize the time your child spends in front of the TV playing video games.
An article that was published in the New York Times by Doctor Gary Small titled “iBrain:Surviving the Technological Alteration of the Modern Mind” indicated children who spend most of time with gadgets such as tablets are likely to spend most of their time alone and thus a reduction in interaction.
